My Bobbiesue (1st grader) is doing great on her no sugar diet. Her behavior problems have went away for the most part. However school is starting in a week and a half and she will need to bring a lunch box every day.
Luckily I have came up with some awesome ideas for her. They consist of real food, and a low sugar. The best part is that they are frugal. Real food can be affordable if you put your mind to it.
So this is her meal plan for the first week of school.
Monday
- Peanut butter and jelly roll ups
- Strawberries
- Celery
- Apples
- Flavored Water
Tuesday
- Turkey and cheese roll ups
- Grapes
- Carrots
- Pretzels
- Apple Juice
Wednesday
- Cheese and crackers
- Turkey
- Carrots
- Pretzels
- Homemade peanut butter granola bar
- Applejuice
Thursday
- Peanut butter and jelly roll ups
- Grapes
- Trail Mix
- Celery
Friday
- Pasta Salad (noodles with parmesan cheese)
- Rolled up Ham
- Strawberries
- Carrots
- Garlic Bread Chips
I hope this helps you think of some real food ideas for your child’s lunch box. It can be super frugal too you just need to think creatively.
Great post! My daughter is super picky plus lactose intolerant so her lunch meals look the same because she doesn’t like anything the school offers and wants to control what she eats which is veggies and fruits most of the time.

Yes, my daughter is the same way she loves fruits and veggies. She also hates sauces for some reason and the school lunches contain lots of them.

My daughter is disappointed that they don’t offer a healthier alternative other then the pb&j sandwich. Almost everyday she packs herself a salad to eat.

That is so awesome that she packs herself a salad. It is so healthy and she is learning cooking skills at the same time. How old is she if you don’t mind me asking?

Yum! Great ideas! Where do you find jelly that doesn’t have sugar? I would have assumed it had lots. Do you make your own?

Yes I can my own. Every year I make about 10 cans for the year with fresh fruit.

These are such great ideas! Love that you send so many fruits and veggies. For the PB&J rollups what kind of bread do you use?
