God is well in my little girl’s heart

My four year old daughter has never had an understanding of God until recently. I have been reading baby bibles to her since she was a few months old. I have been reading this bible to her since she was three. A few weeks ago her bus got into a fender bender. She got thrown into the window and got a bruise by her eye. That night she asks what happens if she meets God. She has been thinking about God everyday now. We now read God Thinks Your Wonderful by Max Lucado everyday now. It is simple and she understands it every well. She is very well on her way to being saved one day in the future now. This would not have happened without the bus accident. It is wonderful how God places things in your life that change your whole perspective. I can’t see what God does in my little girl’s life next.

Meal Plan January 24th- 31st

This week has been a bit warmer. My husband finally stopped feeling so sick. He had a pretty big sinus infection last week and really gave us a scare because he was not getting better. He takes a long time to get over it when he gets sick because he is diabetic. Luckily he is all better now though.

My girls are going to have a pretty big surprise today. Bobbie’s first surprise was that she didn’t have school today because of teacher meetings.  They see their great grandpa once a month and he is coming here today and is bringing each girl a blanket. They love their gifts from their great grandpa and whenever he gives them one they cherish it forever.

Sunday- Chili, fritos, Jiffy cornbread box.

Monday- Nachos with green peppers, black olives, onions, salsa and Daisy sour cream on top

Tuesday- Macaroni mess, garlic bread

Wednesday- Fajitas, mexican rice, taco dip, and tortilla chips

Thursday- Baked chicken, baked potatoes w/ Daisy sour cream on top

Friday- General tsos chicken with brown rice

Saturday- Pulled pork, stuffing, and Pillsbury crescent rolls

Breakfasts will be ; eggs, toast, pancakes, oatmeal, and fresh fruit (apples and bananas)

Lunches will be; Hot dogs with Bush’s baked beans, soup (for days where it is just me and Daisy), and grilled cheeses.

Gardening Healthy for Children

Do you have a small child that is unable to concentrate and won’t eat their veggies? Gardening might be your answer.

NPR Says “School Program Denver Urban Gardens out of Colorado found out that 73% of children that garden eat more produce.” I know that my girls don’t eat their veggies right now but I am willing to try to get them to eat more if this works. They would be so much healthier if they ate their veggies.

Digging into dirt helps release serotonin into the blood stream. Serotonin is thought to improve concentration levels and, make people less anxious. This helps them learn better. I found out about this at healinglandscapes.org. I know if my girls are less anxious and concentrate better they can sleep better. Plus they just got excersize from gardening, because they were raking and digging in the dirt, so they will be very tired. So they will be less grumpy in the morning. Yay! Also these effects will last longer than one day, without having to do the gardening work again. Sounds great for my family. Sometimes we get super busy and can’t work in our garden every day.

Maybe you will give it a try too this year. Do you want to garden now? Feel free to leave your comments or questions below. I will answer them as soon as I can.

My Daisy’s (22 months) favorite book list

  2. Guess how much I love you– Bright colorful pictures are a must in a book for her and they are in this book. It also teaches her how much I love her. I love to read this book to her before bed.
  3. This isn’t my teddy bear. I love the different textures thought in this book. Shiny, rough, woolly and some other textures are in it. She loves to touch the different textures. She loves to look at the book on her own all the time.

My Bobbie’s favorite Book (4 year old) list

  1. The little mouse, the big bear and the big red strawberry. This book has bright colors, Solves problems, and also contains strawberries, her favorite fruit. She loves this book so much I had to read it over and over.
  2. Any of the Disney five minute stories. She loves Disney princesses, expecially Frozen’s Anna and Elsa. Right now she is reading the frozen one.
  3. Daddy’s Jeep Ranger/ Ford Bronco II instruction manual by Haynes. She is a very mechanical girl and loves helping daddy fix his vehicle. I was actually surprised that she will actually listen to her daddy talk about vehicle problem solving for an hour on end some nights. Some quality daddy/ daughter time right there. Me and baby sister listen in too sometimes.

Star Trek Stamps

I was just browsing the internet until all of a sudden I found a blog post that excited me so much.  Star Trek Stamps This is the link to post that got me so excited. She said there are going to be star trek stamps. It is legit. It is also here on startrek.com. This excites me so much. Star trek is the thing that first made me a nerd. I watched it every day. Original series first started it. Then I got into the next generation. I am totally a start trek nerd, and still am. It made me think of science as something tangible and got me thinking about space. I used to hate science before I found the show. Now I love it.

Why I will be gardening in 2016

Being a stay at home mom with my husband working twelve hours days makes me want  to live as frugally as possible. The fact that his body hurts every day from working so hard makes me want to spend as little money as I can and get this family living a sustainable lifestyle so that he can work less hours, and his shoulders can stop hurting so badly.

I still have to go to the grocery store for meats because we live in town, but I can do something about not having to buy vegetables, and some fruits. This would be a huge savings in our budget and something we can do every year. I really wanted to do this last year. However my Daisy got sick with a summer long sinus infection and was teething all the time so I could not invest my time in the garden. I needed to keep her as comfortable and happy as possible. My Bobbie was very excited to help out but we just did little bits here and there to let her have some outside time. Nothing actually grew or was seeded we just weeded the garden out.

This year I am super excited to start doing it and am starting to get an idea of how time demanding but fun it is actually going to be. My goals are to plant tomatoes, lettace, strawberries, cucumbers, onions, and peppers. One variety of each thing. I will probably expand it in the future. My garden bed is covered in snow right now, but it is never to early to start planning.

This is a multi part series. Next week I will talk about seed catalogs. Thank you for reading.
